You'll find wildflowers and birds, and the trail is excellent for walking. You can even pick up the pace and run parts of it. There's a small parking area located here and a bike rack. During quiet parts of the day, it's a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Pondhawk Natural Area
The Pondhawk Natural Area is a 2.7-mile trail loop that takes around an hour to complete. It's popular with locals and offers a beautiful space for walking year-round. The first portion of the trail is paved, while the rest is naturally dirt and sand, though it's still easy to hike through. Don't forget your sunscreen and water as most of this path is uncovered and gets hot quickly.
Reef Patch Trail
At 5.3 miles long, the Reef Patch Trail is an excellent walk at just under two hours to complete. The quieter times of the day offer a serene feeling even though you're still located in the city. This is a relatively flat trail and has a gentle grade, making it easy to navigate. This trail is also dog-friendly, stroller-friendly, and wheelchair-friendly so that anyone can enjoy it.
