Though you can't stop time, you can slow or even reverse the aging process that makes the passage of time so visible in your features. Instead of looking at 2024 as another year to add to your age, consider this the year to get a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. There are several anti-aging procedures that you can pursue to smooth fine lines, sculpt your jawline, plump sagging cheeks, minimize under-eye bags, and give you a fresher, more youthful appearance.

Microneedling

The process of microneedling involves making tiny punctures in the skin using a pen dotted with several small needles. The pen vibrates and pierces the skin at an exact depth, affecting only the superficial layer of the dermis. This stimulates the body's natural collagen production and healing process to improve elasticity, minimize wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of scars, dark spots, and large pores.

At the biostation, we typically combine microneedling treatments with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. PRP is made from a sample of your own blood. When it's reinjected, it activates the body's innate healing capabilities. We place a small amount of blood into a centrifuge to separate the plasma, then inject the PRP into targeted areas of the skin. The plasma boosts regeneration to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Microneedling and PRP treatments take just 15 to 30 minutes. We recommend scheduling a treatment every four to six weeks for best results.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected under the skin to contour the face and replenish lost volume. With age, your body loses some of its natural collagen, causing the skin to sag and form wrinkles. Dermal fillers, when injected strategically into certain areas of the face, help to plump up the skin in these areas, smoothing lines and wrinkles. Targeted use of dermal fillers can also help define your jaw and cheekbones and give your face a more symmetrical appearance.

At the biostation, we have a variety of dermal fillers on hand, including hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane, as well as the collagen-stimulating injectables Radiesse and Sculptra. Our aesthetic technicians will work closely with you to determine which filler best suits your needs. Fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the product and injection site. Most individuals return to work immediately after their treatment

Laser skin rejuvenation

Laser skin rejuvenation, also known as laser resurfacing, removes the outer layer of skin to encourage your body to form a layer of new, more youthful-looking skin cells in their place. Laser skin rejuvenation is a popular anti-aging treatment for those with age spots, warts, scarring, or sun damage. Certain lasers can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines, though they are generally not well suited to treating deep lines and wrinkles.

Our technicians at the biostation use the Erbium laser, the most popular type for skin resurfacing, in conjunction with a topical anesthetic to deliver a comfortable experience and stunning results. Laser treatments have a minimal recovery time and significantly improve your skin's texture and tone.

Thermismooth

ThermiSmooth thermal energy facial perfecting therapy is a non-surgical and 100% non-invasive procedure that uses gentle radio frequency to tighten and perfect the skin. This highly effective rejuvenation treatment stimulates your body’s own collagen production with temperature-controlled thermal energy delivered to the skin with an FDA-approved wand. As the wand gently and gradually heats the skin’s surface to the target temperature, it treats problem areas around the forehead, eyes, mouth, cheeks and neck and activates dermal remodeling. Patients report that the procedure is fast and painless with no downtime, and often refer to the sensation as similar to receiving a hot stone massage.

Botox and Xeomin

Botox and Xeomin are neuromodulators that temporarily disrupt the communication between nerves and muscles to stop the muscle contractions that cause fine lines and wrinkles. When the muscles are forced to relax in this manner, the wrinkles have an opportunity to smooth out. Botox is FDA-approved for treating crow's feet and frown lines, but it's also used off-label for forehead lines and “bunny lines” on the sides of the nose.

Xeomin is similar to Botox but contains fewer proteins. Since Xeomin only contains the purified active treatment, it doesn't require refrigeration. The result is a pleasantly warm injection as opposed to the cold injection used for Botox. We find that Xeomin is most effective for frown lines between the eyebrows.

Botox and Xeomin treatments take just 30 minutes to complete, and results usually first start to show after 24 to 48 hours. Maximum results are visible in 14 days.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that uses synthetic deoxycholic acid to break down fat cells beneath the chin. Depending on the amount of fat under your chin, you might need more than one treatment to address all the fat cells. Each treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and sessions are scheduled a month apart. You can get up to six treatments of Kybella. In clinical studies, 59% of patients elected to get all six treatments, though many individuals are satisfied with their results after just two to four treatments.

Patients might experience bruising and swelling after the treatment, so it's best to avoid scheduling any major social engagements for two weeks following Kybella injections. You should avoid heavy activity for the first 48 to 72 hours after your treatment.

Kybella permanently destroys the cells that store fat, so you won't need any subsequent injections once you've achieved the results you want. Kybella creates a more sculpted profile and a thinner facial appearance without the need for surgical treatment.
