Menopause Boca Raton Therapy: Stages of Menopause
Women normally experience menopause when they hit their 40s. However, there are those who experience it earlier due to medication, surgery, hypothyroidism, or chemotherapy.
- Perimenopause – In this stage, the body produces fewer estrogen and progesterone. It usually starts in the late 40s or early 50s and lasts until the menopausal stage. The limited production of the hormones brings many changes to a woman’s body. They will also experience fatigue, vaginal dryness, night sweats, anemia, decreased sex drive, or urinary tract infection.
- Menopause – This is where menstruation stops for a year and starts in the early 50s or late 60s. This phase causes women to have frequent mood swings, hot flashes, depression, and irritability. Levels of estrogen are also lowered, which can affect women’s bone health.
- Postmenopause – In this phase, women begin to experience relief and regain their energy, but are at higher risk for certain diseases, such as cervical and breast cancer.
